The cookie dough comes together only in 10 minutes, and it gives a large number of cookies. You can make the dough earlier and then freeze it in the freezer, saving some time on Valentine’s day.

The heart-shaped cookies look beautiful and tasty. They are topped with sugar glaze in pink and white color. However, you can customize the sugar glaze color to red if you like.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Sugar Glaze

  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar syrup
  • Pink food coloring

Directions:
  1. In a bowl, add butter and sugar; using an electric mixture or hand blender, blend the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until well combined.
  2. Then add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well until the mixture becomes a soft dough.
  3. If you want to make fewer cookies, you can cut the dough in half at this point and freeze it in the freezer by wrapping it in a plastic bag. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven at 350 F. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it into ½ centimeter sheet. Using different sized heart-shaped cookie cutters, cut the cookies according to your choice.
  5. Roll the leftover dough again and cut the cookies until all dough is used.
  6. Place the cookies in a pre-lined baking tray with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cookies start to golden brown from the edges. Remove from the oven and allow cooling for 5 minutes before transferring them to the cooling rack.
  7. In a bowl mix, all glaze ingredients and then split the glaze into two bowls. Add a drop of pink color in one bowl and mix well.
  8. Fill the glaze in a plastic piping bag and cut the tip; Decorate the cookies with pink and white glaze. Allow to set the glaze for some time and then store in airtight jars.

Note: if you don`t like to eat too much sugar, you can replace the white sugar by Erythritol, which is a great substitute. It is used safely in Keto Diets, because it has less calories than sugar and it does not spike the blood sugar levels. And it tastes as sweet as sugar. If you use this you need to replace the 3/4 cup of white sugar with 1 cup of Erythritol.
