1. What does it mean?

Namaste meaning is the Indian way of greeting a person. It’s the customary courtesy to start with and often to end with. It’s not a superficial gesture or just a word. It is used amongst strangers or friends and irrespective of gender or age. The greeting is a manner of conveying respect for the individual to whom you’re speaking too.

2. Where does it come from?

The gesture is extensively used throughout the Indian subcontinent. It’s used in portions of Asia and beyond where people of Southeast and South Asian origins have traveled.

3. What is the spiritual meaning?

The Sanskrit word, Namaste, means, “I bow to you.” The term Namaha could be interpreted as ‘na ma.’ It has a spiritual value of dissolving a person’s ego in the presence of other beings. It’s in humbling oneself in the presence of others that one’s spiritual essence could shine through.

It’s expressed with a small bow and hands pushed together. Your fingers should point upwards, and palms are touching, thumbs near to the chest. That gesture is referred to as añjali mudra, and the standing posture is called pranamasana.

The meaning of Namaste is a more thoughtful sign of admiration toward another individual. You bow to the divine in the individual in front of you from that sacred space.

Hindus are certain that “the divine and soul is the same in everybody,” according to the Hindu civilizations. If you say the term to somebody, it means, “I bow to the divine in you.” That gesture connects to the Brow Charka, like the third eye or the third center.

You don’t meet a physical being when you meet somebody in person. But you meet their mind as well. It’s an excellent way to show friendship, respect, and love to the individual whom you meet.

The word namasté is a mix of two Sanskrit words. Namah refers to bow and Te that applies “to you.” In short, the word namasté converts to “I bow to you.” But, there’s no wrong or correct in terms of placing an accent on the ‘e’ or not.
