There are various Types of Yoga

Did you know there are different types of yoga? Yoga has come a very long way since its early days in India for over five thousand years ago.

The well-being and health benefits of the age-old practice have been popular for some time.

However, with more reasons for anxiety and stress than any other point in history, most people are opting for yoga for the first time in their lives, hoping to reap some of its relaxing benefits.

What are the types of yoga? What are their meaning and differences and how can you practice it?

The 7 major Types of Yoga, and Ways to Practice it. 

1. Yin.

This is also referred to as Taoist yoga—a meditative practice intended to complement faster-moving styles such as Ashtanga.

This pose is passive and held for a few minutes, focusing on accessing deep tissue and joint parts of the body sections. 

Yin yoga is an excellent way to stretch out your sole muscles after a gym session.

2. Bikram.

This yoga post is perfect for you if getting sweat is your thing.

You can work your way through twenty-six poses in 40 percent humidity and 105 degrees heat.

Classes often last ninety minutes, and advocates say the heat helps flush out the toxins from the body. 

3. Hatha.

This yoga is created to relax the mind and align the body using a set of postures, meditation, and breathing techniques.

The term Hatha refers to many kinds of modern yoga. Expect a gentle session along with basic yoga poses as well as breathing exercises. 

4. Kundalini.

This spiritual and intense yoga is composed of meditation, singing, chanting, breathing techniques, and repetitive postures.

Kundalini yogis wear white and practice to awaken the serpent energy in the body. It then results in a higher state of awareness, health, and happiness. 

5. Vinyasa.

Teachers are free to integrate various elements of yoga in this routine and lead students to transition from one pose to the other.

It has the same intensity as Ashtanga, but the only difference is that no two vinyasa classes are similar.

6. Ashtanga.

This is a challenging and fast-paced yoga following six levels of sequences, which progress in difficulty.

The final set is intended for advanced students only. Remember that this yoga is very similar to vinyasa, except that the same poses are practiced in identical order. 

7. Restorative.

The goal of this yoga post is to relax the mind and body. Treatment is derived from Iyengar yoga and passive poses held for five minutes or more.
