World Compliment Day is celebrated on March 1 every year. This celebration marks the essential human need for acknowledgment and appreciation.

In 2001, Hans Poortvliet founded World Compliment Day. After gaining popularity in the Netherlands, he spread this day in different parts of the world.

What is World Compliment Day exactly?

World Compliment Day is also known as “The Most Positive Day in the World.” This day is created as a simple way of spreading happiness and positive happiness worldwide.

It encourages everyone to use words to compliment and appreciate someone rather than gifts so that everyone can participate.

As it says on the World Compliment Day website, according to Hans Poortvliet: “If on March 1st every person pays at least three people in his/her environment or (social) network a genuine and sincere compliment we will definitely create the Most Positive Day in the World!” 

It will also help these people feel motivated to achieve their goals. 

A compliment can impact a person’s disposition. For example, if you compliment someone, you can make that person feel better.

Not only that, you feel better as well. It is contagious! Well, that is more than enough reason to celebrate that holiday.

Giving people some well-earned compliments can make a big difference in their lives. Nothing else motivates a person other than receiving a praise and recognition. 

As that celebration starts a chain reaction, it results in plenty of goodwill in the community.

In business, if you compliment someone genuinely, you will give them more power while increasing their productivity level.

It makes people more dedicated to their companies than before. 

In the workplace, paying sincere compliments to coworkers or employees helps build trust. It makes a better and more positive workplace for everyone.

This unofficial holiday started in the Netherlands but is now celebrated in different parts of the globe, mainly Belgium and Norway.
