What is a Sirloin Steak?

Sirloin Steak meat comes from the rear of the cow and has no bones and very little fat. This Beef is skinny, juicy, and relatively tender beef and it is very affordable. If cut thinly, the texture compares to a good Filet Mignon, with a very good taste but without the expensive price tag. You can use it in various ways which will all taste delicious, like in this recipe Spaghetti with Beef.

Tip: The Sirloin Steak does not have much fat or muscle marbling, so it is easily over-cooked. The high temperature for too long will make the meat dry. Prepare it with medium heat or like in this recipe a short period of time on high heat.

  • 12 oz fettuccine
  • 1 lb sirloin steaks
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tbs butter
  • 2 cloves, minced
  • 2 tbs all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup milk

  • 1 tbs freshly chopped parsley
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • 1 1/2 cup halved cherry tomatoes
  • 4 cup baby spinach
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling (optional)

  1. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season the steaks with salt and pepper generously.
  3. Heat a heavy button grill pan over high heat and add one tablespoon of butter. Let the butter sizzle for a few seconds. Place the steak in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes each side for medium. Remove from the pan and roughly chop the steaks. Set aside.
  4. Heat the remaining two tablespoons of butter in a medium skillet over medium heat and add the garlic. Saute the garlic for about 1 minute, until it is brown. Then add the flour and cook for one minute while stirring continuously. Add the milk and stir. Cook for another five more minutes, or until the sauce starts to thicken.
  5. Next, add the parmesan and chopped parsley, season with salt and pepper. Add the cooked pasta and stir to coat the pasta with sauce.
  6. Add the chopped sirloin steak, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. Cook everything together until the spinach and cherry tomatoes wilted.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your Spaghetti with Beef!
