The International Day of Happiness is the happiest day of the year. On that day, everyone should take a moment to reflect on what makes us happy, consider what we can do more to bring Happiness into our lives.

When is it?
Every year on the 20th of March, the International Day of Happiness is celebrated. A day created to rejoice in Happiness, enrich lives, and bring people together across the globe.
It is a day to have fun, being happy, and concentrating on what in our lives makes us happy.
The International Day of Happiness coincides with the March Equinox that happens on the 20th of March each year because all living things worldwide experience the universal phenomenon experience it at the same time.
Note that March equinox occurs when the planet’s equator cuts across the middle of the Sun’s disk.
What is International Happiness Day exactly?
The UN created a resolution for this event. And a non-profit organization called the Action of Happiness designed it starting in 2012. It was based upon the concept that human development is about economic growth and prioritizing the well-being and human Happiness.
All UN states decided to offer a higher priority to Happiness at the 2012 UN Conference on Happiness. This event then was celebrated for the very first time in 2013.
Why is it celebrated?
Since 2013, the UN has celebrated the International Day of Happiness to identify the value of Happiness in peoples’ lives across the globe.
Everybody wishes to be happy – and life is much more satisfying when we are together. The 20th of March is a chance to rejoice in our shared humanity.
Why is International Happiness Day important?
Jayme Illien, the CEO of the United Nations, founded the International Happiness Day for the New World Project in 2006.
In that year, a global campaign, Ten Steps to Global Happiness, launched as a theme that year. Since then, it has become a yearly tradition.
The ten steps to global Happiness are necessary steps any country, organization, or individual can take to celebrate the International Day of Happiness.
And at the same time furthering the freedom, well-being, and Happiness of all life on the globe by 2050.
How many countries support this?
The campaign is a worldwide celebration to mark the UN International Day of Happiness.
The non-profit organization Action for Happiness coordinates the event from all participating nations, supported by a partnership of like-minded institutions.
