- Did you ever hear of Moonbows? Not only the sun can cause a rainbow. Also, the moon can create them. This is very rare as they happen only by night and when the moon is very bright. The colors are not so bright as with a normal rainbow, mostly white but all colors are still there.
How many colors are in the Rainbow?
Dispersion is determined to be the spreading of the white light into its complete spectrum of colors. In the Rainbow, the colors will be the same as the white light.
Nevertheless, the sunlight will enter the droplets of water and reflects as it occurs in a prism.
The light absorbed by water droplets will vanish, and the one that isn’t absorbed will be reflected and revealed as the color rather than white light. The magnificent colors you’ll see in the Rainbow are:
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
These are the main colors of the Rainbow. Another interesting fact is that the sequence in which the colors appear is always the same.
The outermost color of the arc is red, and violet is the innermost color of the Rainbow (unless it is the secondary Rainbow, as described above).
