This castle is constructed on top of a steep rock and is undoubtedly one of the largest in Europe. Did you know that it’s also a National Cultural Monument?

2. De Haar, The Netherlands.

Castle de Haar is the biggest and most luxurious castle in the Netherlands. It looks really like a fairytale castle midst the surroundings of water and the beautiful parkland gardens. 3. Mont Saint Michel, France.

A stony tidal island in Normandy that is situated at least one kilometers from the coast. This beautiful castle used to be linked to mainland France via a road. However, it was later on converted into a raised road in the nineteenth century.

Mont Saint-Michel inspired the heroin Joan of Arc to her great achievements, because of their resistance to the English. At the entrance to Eglise Saint Pierre, the parish church of Mont St Michel, there is a statue of her.

4. Neuschwanstein, Germany.

Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most mesmerizing castles in Europe.
It stunning and idyllic setting makes it an enchanting tourist attraction. It is no wonder that this castle was Disney`s inspiration for their theme parks.

5. Kronborg, Denmark.

This castle is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. You will be amazed by this magnificent renaissance building. In case you didn’t know yet, this castle is the setting of Shakespeare`s play Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark.

6. Grand palace Bangkok, Thailand.

Located at the heart of Bangkok, the Grand Place complex was constructed in the 18th century and has next to royal halls, also a number of government offices on request of the King.

7. Matsumoto, Japan.

You will be in love with the beautiful waterside location of this castle in the Japanese Alps. The castle was under threat of demolition in the late nineteenth century when it was sold at auction. Fortunately, a local campaign saved it, and it remains standing for many tourists today.

8. Mehrangarh Fort, India.

The thick walls of this castle were designed on a hilltop in Rajasthan, which adds to its imposing character. The jaw-dropping interiors of this castle are as charming as the grand building itself.

9. The Alcazar of Segovia, Spain.

A beautiful and grandiose castle dating back to the 12th century when the words “castle of Segovia” and “Alcaçar” are found in the documentation. Here it is referred to as a fortress and royal residence what it is still to this day. The fortress also includes the Royal College of Artillery.

10. Dunrobin, Scotland.

Dunrobin Castle is as magnificent as it is decadent, situated nearby the sea and beautiful gardens. The clan Sutherland has lived here since the 1400s, and you can visit it`s museum and falconry displays.
